Insights on Emotional Authority in Human Design

Preview

Recently, I completed an alignment session, one that felt in flow and gave some super “YES!” energy.

An alignment session is an opportunity for potential new coaching clients to meet with me on Zoom for 20 minutes FREE of charge to see if we click, if we’re ready to do this thing!

It’s a space for both of us to bring our curious questions and to share what we hope to get out of a coaching relationship together.

After the session, I give both of us 24 hours to see how the session lands in our bodies and spirits, regardless of initial impressions, with a plan to check back in at the 24-hour mark to see if we both want to begin the coaching relationship.

I fucking love alignment sessions.

And this particular one was in flow, full of synchronicities and excitement felt on both ends.

Most parts of my being and spirit wanted to say, “Yes, let’s just do this thing!” and bypass my 24-hour wait period.

And still… I gave 24 hours for both of us.

I do this because of my unique Human Design (and possibly yours, too)!

First of all, what even is Human Design?

Human Design is basically one of many ways to understand yourself and how you interact with the world around you.

And before I lose all of ya science nerds to another weird “woo” thing, part of what I love about the Human Design system is that it combines several science-based perspectives, including astrology, the Chinese I’Ching, the Hindu Chakra system, the Judaic Kabbalah Tree of Life, and quantum physics.

This is the kind of shit I nerd out on.

So… your personalized chart is a super cool tool that can help you understand your life and soul’s purpose, your energetic blueprint, which includes strengths and growing edges, natural talents, personality traits, your life and soul path, etc.

One of the things it reveals (confirms) about you is the way you process and make decisions.

I use the words “reveals” and “confirms” here because many of these tools (Human Design, astrology, Enneagram, Myers-Briggs, etc.) are all just different ways of interpreting what is already true about you and likely what you already know.

I try to have a balance between consulting with these tools for fun and not taking them too seriously, and also giving them the credit they are due and taking them seriously enough.

There are seven types of “authorities” or ways to make decisions in Human Design, and the one that makes up 50% of the population is “emotional authority.”

It's me, friends.

And there’s a high chance it might be you, too.

Because emotions are the emotional authority’s primary guide for decision making, it is ideal for me to make decisions from as neutral a space as possible.

Makes sense why I have an entire tool shed of somatic and nervous system practices, of creative outlets, etc. to release and express emotions - it helps get me back to a grounded baseline, where I can make decisions that are clear and aligned.

Oh, and by the way… the answer in my body was still YES! to the alignment session, well-beyond 24 hours later. Sometimes it changes to a “NO!” from a neutral state, but this one was still a solid YES!

INVITATIONS:

First, I invite you to get curious and playful and take the 20 seconds or so to figure out what your unique human design is (we also often do this in 1:1 coaching sessions). You can find out HERE

Next, regardless of whether you figure out your Human Design or not, I invite you to experiment with giving yourself 24 hours before making your next important decision and see what comes up for you in the process.

Perhaps you, too, are one of the many “emotional authorities” out there.

And if you’re not, I’m super jazzed to learn about how you make decisions (some people are “sacral” authorities and need to make decisions immediately based on “gut” actions).

When you’re ready to be held in a 1:1 coaching relationship with me, where we get to nerd out on your Human Design as you root in creative alchemy and come home to your unique gifts, find me HERE
