During my quantum healing session a couple of weeks ago, the topic of hosting an outdoor Danceground event in Western Mass, which would be an extension of our monthly online dance and movement sessions in Surrendirt to Community, came up.

Almost immediately after expressing this, in all of their glorious and jittery glory, my dear friend Fear came to visit us.

When asked by my practitioner what I was afraid of, the first response from one of my youngest inner kiddos was,

“But what if no one shows up?!?”

to which my wise and grounded self almost immediately responded…

And just like that, my little babes and their fearful parts were at ease, as the deep and wise re-membering sank into my bones:

I came here to play and explore pleasure and desire and the range of human emotions, to live from my heart’s center, not to impress or attract others, but for the sheer joy of doing whatever it is that reminds me I am alive.

The ones who are meant to play with or alongside me will be attracted to that.

This is a lesson that has taken decades for me to learn, and involved unpacking and tending to my codependent and people-pleasing parts.

These parts are the ones that are deeply rooted at the base of my longstanding abandonment wounding, the ones that riot alongside Fear when I want to do something that is particularly edgy or juicy and absolutely aligned with my life’s mission.

These parts served their purpose to protect me for at least a couple of decades, and now they know and trust that I’ve got the wheel, that I can reassure them when Fear comes bumbling and barging into conversation like a ridiculously cute lil wrecking ball.

When this happens, as it did during conversation in my quantum healing session a couple of weeks ago, I wrap one arm around my inner kiddos and the other extends out towards Fear, and we all soften.

Then we PLAY.
